'Himmatwala' is Tamannaah's biggest challenge

Although southern star Tamannaah is making her debut in Bollywood with out and out masala movie "Himmatwala", she sees commercial movies as a biggest challenge for an actress.

"Commercial films are a biggest challenge for an actor, especially for a heroine because there are limited number of scenes in which that person has to perform. When you are part of a commercial film, conviction is even harder...Different age groups relate to commercial films," she said.

The actress, who has done around 27 films down South, clarifies she doesn't work for fame or stardom.

"Even when I was working down south, my main intention was to do good work and good movies. Fame, name, and stardom are great, but that's not the reason I work for," she said.

The 23-year-old's next Hindi film is with Akshay Kumar and she also has "couple of films lined up down south...I enjoy taking different projects."

In Sajid Khan directed "Himmatwala", Tamannaah will be seen romancing Ajay Devgn when it would hit the screens Friday.

'It's not fair to compare me with Sridevi' Tamannah

Sridevi wowed us with her colourful avatar in 1983's Himmatwala, south actress Tamannah will take over in the film's remake, releasing this Friday.

Not many know that Tamannah had made a quiet start in Bollywood with a small budget film in 2005 called Chand Sa Roshan Chehra. It sank without a trace.

When I reach her newly-purchased home in Versova, a western suburb of Mumbai, Tamannah is busy dressing up for the rehearsals of the grand finale of dance reality TV show Nach Baliye, held over the weekend.

As she applies her make-up and sips on orange juice, we settle down to chat about Himmatwala, her transition from southern superstar to a Bollywood newcomer, and why comparisons to Sridevi are unfair.

Even before the script was in place, the comparisons between the old and the new Himmatwala had started. What are the challenges involved in living up to the audience's expectation?

Once I was offered the film, I saw the original Himmatwala to understand what Sajid (Khan, director) really liked from it. I wanted to get the essence of the film.

Thereafter, right from the first day of the shoot, I was only following Sajid's guidance.

Emraan Hashmi, Huma Qureshi Lip-Lock in EK THI DAAYAN

No disappointment for Emraan Hashmi fans who love their serial-kisser icon. The actor, who has already proven his histrionics and star power repeatedly, will be seen gently kissing his co-star Huma Qureshi in the forthcoming “Ek Thi Daayan”.
Says a source, “It’s a passionate moment in a song sequence called Kaali Kaali and has been very aesthetically done. The set was emptied out and only the bare minimum technicians stood back to capture the scene.”
