Aishwarya Rai, daughter Aaradhya Bachchan at Cannes tomorrow

Bollywood actor Aishwarya Rai will arrive with her daughter Aaradhya Bachchan at the ongoing 66th Cannes Film Festival tomorrow (May 17).
Aishwarya's father-in-law and megastar Amitabh Bachchan, who threw open the prestigious Cannes festival yesterday, said he is waiting for them to arrive at the festival.
"Media tomorrow, and then wait for the bahurani to arrive with bitiya, meet them and get on plane back to London and then home!!," he posted on micro-blogging site Twitter.

Hero returns

Director, Subhash Ghai is planning on re-making 1983 blockbuster, Hero. The film will have two new faces, Aditya Pancholi's son, Sooraj Pancholi and Suniel Shetty's daughter, Athiya Shetty . While it is still not clear who will direct the project, the film is likely to go on floors by the end of this year. We wait to see how many fireworks will this jodi bring on and off screen!

Akshay - Nargis recreate Shaukeen magic

Basu Chatterjee's hit comedy, Shaukeen (1982) is all set for a remake, directed by Rumi Jaffery and starring Nargis Fakhri and Akshay Kumar. While Miss Fakhri will step into Rati Agnihotri's shoes, Khiladi Kumar will reprise Mithun Chakraborty's role. Annu Kapoor, Paresh Rawal and Anupam Kher have been cast as the three lecherous old men. It is also heard that Rumi has rewritten the classic to suit today's times. The film will now be based in Thailand instead of Goa. With this film, Nargis finally gets a chance to work with Akshay which she missed out on Khiladi 786 in 2012.

"Iron Man 3" beats "The Great Gatsby"

the movie charts and in United States beats out a strong debut movie "The Great Gatsby".

Iron Man 3 earned $72.5 million through ticket selling from Friday to Sunday on the other hand, The Great Gatsby earned $51.1 million, according to the studio estimates.

Walt Disney informed, "Iron Man 3 is the second biggest movie opening of all time. International sales for Iron Man 3 reached a massive $664 million through Sunday after $89 million from the weekend. The film's worldwide take now stands at $949 million."

The Great Gatsby outpaced forecasts for an opening of up to $45 million. The Great Gatsby is a 1925 novel written by American author F. Scott Fitzgerald that follows a cast of characters living in the fictional town of West Egg on prosperous Long Island in the summer of 1922.

Leo DiCaprio is playing the leading role in the movie. He is playing the role of a a millionaire pining for a lost love. Also There are two other heroes in the movie they are Tobey Maguire and Joel Edgerton.

About the movie president of theatrical distribution for Warner Bros Dan Fellman said, "We never expected to open this picture at this level."

But Iron Man 3 is still the king of box office. It is the sequel of Iron Man and Iron Man 2. The movie featuring the Marvel Comics character Iron Man, produced by Kevin Feige of Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. Ranbir Kapoor to romance Jacqueline Fernandez in upcoming film

Sri Lanka actress Jacqueline Fernandez and Barfi actor Ranbir Kapoor has roped in Bhushan Kumar's next.

Ranbir and Jacqueline will be a fresh on-screen pair. The producer has pretty much high expectations from the new onscreen couple.
About them Bhushan Kumar said, "I have roped in fresh pair Ranbir and Jacqueline for my next film. It's a two-hero film. We are yet to finalise the other actor."

Salman Khan all set to launch Katrina Kaif’s sister?

After making Katrina Kaif one of Bollywood’s A-listers, Salman Khan is now leaving no stone unturned to help his ex-girlfriend’s sister Isabelle with her debut film.


According to a leading daily, the 47-year-old actor, who is famously known as the Godfather and mentor to not only Katrina but many other Bollywood heroines, is reportedly co-producing the Canadian movie- ‘Dr Cabbie’ - which is said to be Isabelle’s debut movie.

Apart from Isabelle, other actors in this movie are Vinay Virmani – last seen in ‘Speedy Singhs’ in 2011 – and Adrianne Palicki – who was in ‘GI Joe: Retaliation’ earlier this year. 

Along with Kaif’s sister, Kunal Nayyar - from American TV series, ‘The Big Bang Theory’- is also said to be making his debut in films with this project.

The movie, which is said to be distributed in India by Eros International, is estimated to be a $25 million project.

“Isabelle went through the audition process like all the other actors. She was cast based on her performance and only because she was a perfect fit for the role,” a spokesperson of Eros said about Isabelle’s casting.

The story of the movie revolves around a young Indian doctor who has newly arrived in Canada and has to work as a taxi driver after being turned down by some local medical schools.

The film, which is being directed by the famous Canadian director Jean-François Pouliot, is currently being shot in Canada. 

This time for Isabelle!

With a famous movie star for a sister, it's only inevitable to get some share of the media attention. Especially when that sister is Katrina Kaif. As a result, there has been a lot of speculation surrounding Isabelle Kaif's impending movie career. Significant newsprint and TV footage has already been spent in wondering when the pretty young sister will be seen on-screen.

One of the first rumours was that Isabelle would do a crossover film opposite Anil Kapoor's son, Harshvardhan. Then, it seems, Katrina was in talks with director Ayan Mukerji to launch Isabelle. This was followed by reports that Katrina would start her own production house and cast her little sister in her first film. However, nothing came of any of this.

Now, Isabelle is finally set to debut, but in a Canadian film where, coincidentally, Katrina's former alleged-boyfriend Salman Khan is involved. Called Dr Cabbie, it is co-produced by Salman Khan Being Human [SKBH] Productions, in association with two Canadian companies - FirstTake Entertainment and Caramel Film.

It was LRB's first public performance after Ayub Bacchu's recovery from a serious illness. The program was arranged by the Indira Gandhi Cultural Center (IGCC) in associated with the State Bank of India in Bangladesh at Dhanmondi, on Saturday evening.

It was a come back concert for Ayub Bacchu. He opened the concert with “Gotokal Ratey” followed by “Khoniker Jonno”. Including some of his hit tracks like Ghum Bhanga Shohorey”, “Mon Chaile Mon Pabe”. The audience came to life when the band played their most popular hit numbers “Shei Tumi” and “Neel Bedona”.

The band performed signature rock numbers of legendary singer Eric Clapton's “I Shot the Sheriff”, followed by “Cocaine. Also Bob Marley’s “Stir it up” and “Smoke on the Water” by Deep Purple.

Shah Rukh Khan and Sanjay Leela team up once again?

Even as the world continues to speculate about the actor who will play Bajirao in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Bajirao Mastani, there's buzz that indicates SLB was in an advanced stage of talks with Ajay Devgn (his Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam hero) for Bajirao.

And Katrina Kaif was reportedly on stand-by for the role of Mastani.

However, one hears from a very reliable source that Shah Rukh Khan and Sanjay, who have blown hot and cold with one another several times since Devdas, but who are currently on a special wicket, are very close these days.

In fact, on several occasions, both SRK and SLB have taken favours from one another as far as sharing their common heroine Deepika Padukone's (Chennai Express and Ram Leela) dates go.

One speculation that is currently rife is whether SRK will be SLB's Bajirao. Who knows, till the final casting actually happens, such talk will abound.

One also hears the filmmaker and the actor have been discussing the Mary Kom film closely. Guess it is their common interest in good cinema that is binding them. 

Kareena Kapoor: a woman in love

Actress Kareena Kapoor managed to sneak in a verbal jab aimed at the press when asked by NDTV's Vikram Chandra about playing a journalist in Prakash Jha's Satyagraha. Kareena, who received the Entertainer of the Decade award at NDTV Indian of the Year, said: "It's good to be on the other side but I regret I don't get to ask questions like when are you getting married or when are you having a baby." 

That gentle barb aside, Kareena said that the role she plays in the film, which also stars Amitabh Bachchan and Ajay Devgn, is an extremely sensitive one, and her performance has been inspired by NDTV's Barkha Dutt. Kareena said she didn't cut her hair to look like Barkha but was nevertheless inspired by Barkha's strong personality.

Shooting Satyagraha in Bhopal has meant that Kareena and husband of a few months Saif Ali Khan have spent much of the last few months apart. When asked about how they coped, Kareena said:"I am a woman in love and when you are in love, you cross boundaries." She also joked, "Saif and I contribute to air fare sales."

On a more sombre note, Kareena said: "I salute India's Braveheart and the courage with which she fought, and her family for their dignity."

Buzz is that Sanjay Leela Bhansali is reviving his shelved project Bajirao Mastani finally after 14 years. And interestingly, the director will be roping in both Katrina Kaif and Deepika Padukone for different roles in the film, reports Mumbai Mirror. 

Bhansali, who had been planning to make the film since 1999, originally had Aishwarya Rai and Salman Khan in mind for this epic romance but due to their personal differences, the project had to be delayed.

Bajirao Mastani went through several castings over the years. The film will be based on the life of Peshwa Bajirao and his ladylove Mastani.

A source told the daily, "Apparently, Bhansali has had a word with both Deepika and Katrina. The girls have shown tremendous interest. All you need now is Ranbir Kapoor coming on board as Bajirao, and you have a Silsila all over again".

If the project finalises, this would be Katrina Kaif's first film with Bhansali and Deepika's second after Ram Leela.

Bhansali is yet to finalise the lead role to portray Bajirao.

Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif will begin filming Siddharth Anand's Bang Bang on May 1. 

The film will be a remake of Hollywood's 2010 comedy Knight and Day which featured Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz in the lead. 

The screenplay of the film is by Kahaani director Sujoy Ghosh and Suresh Nair who earlier wrote Singh Is King and Namaste London. The dialogues have been written by Abbas Tyrewala. 

This will be Hrithik and Katrina's second film together after Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (2011). Hrithik also has Krrish 3 out this year, and Katrina has Dhoom: 3.

Siddharth Anand's first film as director was 2005's Salaam Namaste, starring Saif Ali Khan and Preity Zinta. He later made Ta Ra Rum Pum (2007), Bachna Ae Haseeno (2008) and Anjaana Anjaani (2010).

Bang Bang is being produced by Fox Star Studios and the film will be shot at exotic locales in Europe, Far East and India.

The newest rumor in B-town is famous choreographer and director Farha Khan has approached Aishwarya for her up coming film "Happy New Year" opposite Shah Rukh Khan.

Bachchan shown interest in the film but yet to read the script. According to sources, "Aishwarya apparently wants to read the script before she arrives at any decision. She wants to read it along with the makers and Shah Rukh, once he is done with his present commitments."

"She has an idea of the story outline, since her husband Abhishek Bachchan has a prominent role in the film." the source added.

For the film Farha Khan said besides Shah Rukh Khan and Abhiskeh Bachchan there will be two more male actors. She is meeting new faces daily and looking for a new girl who will match up with all the four heroes.

About casting Aishwarya in the movie she said, "No. Like I said, I’ve not signed anyone. If I go to their office, it’s because I’m meeting Abhishek. We’re working together and have things to discuss."

Oscar winner Reese Witherspoon arrested

Oscar winner Reese Witherspoon was arrested for disorderly conduct in the state of Georgia after authorities detained her husband for drunk driving, US media reported.

The actress allegedly became irate with police officers when they began questioning her husband Jim Toth, after seeing the couple's car swerving early Friday.

Entertainment news website TMZ reported she said: "Do you know my name?"

An officer answered by saying, "No, I don't need to know your name," to which the 37-year-old reportedly shot back: "You're about to find out who I am ... You are going to be on national news."

Witherspoon, one of Hollywood's highest paid stars with a reputation as being something of a straight arrow, also became "verbal" and "ornery" at the amount of time police were taking with her husband, according to TMZ.

Both the actress, famous for her huge "Legally Blonde" hits, and her spouse were taken to jail, booked and released, TMZ said.

Witherspoon, in Georgia to film a new movie, won the best actress Academy Award for 2005's "Walk the Line."

Foreign ministry sources said she would discharge her duty as special envoy for HIV/AIDS.

The Secretariat of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) in a meeting in January selected Bangladesh’s Runa Lalia, India’s Ajay Devgan and Pakistan’s Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy as Goodwill ambassadors for HIV/AIDS.

India’s eminent actress and social activist Shabana Azmi was the first Goodwill Ambassador to raise awareness and generate support for the fight against HIV and AIDS.

Katrina Kaif's Sheila Ki Jawani act may have grabbed eyeballs but the actress now has no time to do item numbers. 

The actress has been apparently approached by three film makers to do an item song in their film. But Katrina had to refuse all of them due to paucity of time. 

Says a source, "Katrina loves dancing. She is equally enthusiastic about the rehearsals. She does not mind doing more item numbers. When the offers came her way, she was greatly excited. However her tight schedule this year leaves no time for item numbers." 

Adds the source, "Some directors feel she is a lucky mascot for them. They even think that her presence in the song is like a guarantee of superhit songs." 

According to choreographer Terence Lewis, "Her face makes her look sweet no matter what she does." Vaibhavi Merchant who has worked with the actress states, "Street dance, krumping, hip hop, salsa and the typical Bollywood style dance -- she can do it all in one go."

Aashiqui 2 and Iron Man 3 released

It is Bollywood vs Hollywood at the box office today, with Aashiqui 2, a remake of Mahesh Bhatt's hit film, and superhero movie Iron Man 3 up for release. 

Directed by Mohit Suri, the man behind films like Kalyug (2005), Raaz: The Mystery Continues (2009), and Murder 2 (2011), Aashiqui 2 features Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor in the lead. 

A musical love story, Aashiqui 2 is produced by by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar and Mukesh Bhatt. It is inspired by Mahesh Bhatt's 1990 film Aashiqui which featured Rahul Roy and Anu Agarwal in the lead. 

Aditya Roy Kapur, who debuted in Bollywood with 2009's London Dreams and later acted in 2010's Action Replayy and Guzaarish, is quite excited about his first film as the male lead. His brothers, UTV head Siddharth and Nautanki Saala actor Kunaal, are happy for him too. 

"Everyone is very excited. Both my elder brothers quickly checked YouTube when the promo was released, and they were very happy," the 27-year-old said in an interview. 

And the actor also enjoyed shooting for the film. "We enjoyed a lot. We shot in Goa, South Africa and Mumbai. Actually, outdoors is more fun as for that time everyone is together as a team. You get to see them more as your friends and family. In this film, everyone was very close," Aditya said. 

Shakti Kapoor's daughter Shraddha debuted in the Hindi film industry with 2009's Teen Patti and was last seen in 2011's Luv Ka The End. And the actress admits to sharing a great bond with Aditya. "Aditya and I got comfortable with each other and it shows on the screen. People have been calling me and telling me that we have a good chemistry. Off screen, we have become good friends and somewhere that has translated on the screen as well. That is wonderful," said the 24-year-old. 

Also out today the third installment in the Iron Man series. Directed by Shane Black, the film features Robert Downey Jr and Gwyneth Paltrow reprising their roles as industrialist Tony Stark aka Iron Man and Pepper Potts. The film is releasing in India a week before it releases in the US. Indian-origin actor Ben Kingsley plays the villain, The Mandarin. 

The third film in the series will see Stark embark on a journey of revenge as his world is reduced to rubble by a nasty enemy.

Bollywood star Salman Khan, who had launched an online petition asking for Sarabjit Singh's freedom in 2012, Thursday mourned the death of the Indian death row prisoner in Pakistan.

"Freedom at last. Hope they give him to his family. We all tried, guess not hard enough. May god give his family strength and his soul rests in peace," Salman posted on Twitter.

Last year, Salman had urged his fans and the public to join an online petition that he planned to give to the Pakistan government in a bid to free Sarabjit.

Sarabjit Singh, on death row in Pakistan after being convicted for terror strikes in the country, had been comatose since April 26, when he was savagely attacked by two fellow prisoners at Lahore's Kot Lakhpat Jail. He had spent over 20 years in jail.

Sarabjit Singh died on early Thursday in a Lahore hospital.
