Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone have entered the US box office top 10 with Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. The Bollywood film, which takes its title from a Kishore Kumar song, opened on Friday (May 31).
"YJHD crosses $1 million mark in USA. Sat $607,000. Total: $1.07 million. Debuts at No 9 at USA BO. Outstanding," trade analyst Taran Adarsh revealed.
The Ayan Mukerji-directed project has also performed well in the UK, collecting a total of £278,618 in the two days since its release.
On a promotional trip to London, Padukone spoke to Indian film expert Ashanti Omkar about the difficult shooting conditions in and around Manali.
"Even though we shot a love story, it was more like an adventure film, due to the physical exertion," said the actress.
"The actors get it a bit easier than the film unit - the unit really suffered - carrying equipment on snowy mountains. And this was all constant, for one and a half months. It was exhausting and adventurous, like we had makeshift toilets with cardboard."
Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani is out now on general release.
